MUSIC MATINEE TODAY AND FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS

Music Matinee is a registered Charity, and a Not-For-Profit organisation established in 2018. It is managed by volunteers who are passionate about presenting live music in Melbourne

OUR PURPOSE

To bring live classical music to Melbournians by providing free lunchtime concerts at The Scots’ Church on many Tuesdays during the year and by facilitating live musical events given by these musicians at Retirement Villages.

THE MUSICIANS

We have developed a close relationship with the musicians who play for us. We are committed to supporting them in their training and in their early years, as they embark on their chosen career. Many have been trained at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS), Melbourne University’s Conservatorium of Music (MUC), or Monash University’s Sir Zelman Cowan School of Music.

Our musicians are highly trained and dedicated in their approach while having the passion to perform their wonderful music for us. We think we have successfully combined our offering of live music and providing musicians the opportunity to perform as they embark on their chosen career.

TO ACHIEVE OUR PURPOSE

We hold 18 concerts in Melbourne CBD each year, made possible by the generosity of The Scots’ Church who provide use of their premises, their wonderful piano and very helpful staff at no cost.

We also facilitate the engagement of our musicians with those living in retirement villages, at no cost or financial gain to Music Matinee.

The assistance and support of the dedicated staff from the above Music organisations from whom many of our musicians are drawn, and of Wesley College and the Old Wesley Collegians Association who support our annual fundraising event is very gratefully acknowledged.

Our acknowledgements extend to our wonderful audiences which now includes many regulars.

Without the generous support of those mentioned above, Music Matinee may not have continued nor have been able to have increased our payments to musicians. nor provide important prizes as recognition of excellence or needs.
